$50,000 bond on shoplifting accusation

A Cook County judge set bond at $50,000 Monday for an Ingleside man charged with stealing items totaling more than $250 from a Schaumburg Lord & Taylor.

Brian Hartfield, 25, who police say took a men's shirt and several other items from the department store on Saturday, has several convictions for theft dating back six years, Cook County prosecutors said.

Earlier this year, he was sentenced to 30 days in Cook County Jail following a theft conviction, prosecutors said.

If convicted of the class 3 felony, Hartfield could be sentenced to two to five years in prison. He could also receive probation. He next appears in court Oct. 8.
