Harris is our best hope in legislature

I am writing to ask my family, friends, and colleagues in the Northwest suburbs to join me in supporting David Harris in the state representative's race for the 66th district.

Over the past year I've had the opportunity to get to know Mr. Harris and his positions on taxation, regulatory reform, and the deficit. David Harris simply "gets it" and he's eager to start working on solutions.

His life experience proves he's a man of action who gets things done. Harris' exceptional ability to remain positive compliments an optimistic outlook that's absent in Springfield. Illinoisans' expectations of state government performance should match those that we set for our own businesses and households; it's time that we stopped settling for less.

Our freshman incumbent, Mark Walker is a nice fellow. I give him credit for his efforts to reduce legislator's pay and his seemingly genuine concern for his constituents. But Walker is ultimately playing for the same team of Chicago thugs whose self-serving politics and regressive legislation has exacerbated the recession's effects in Illinois.

What has Walker's "independence" really accomplished? We're drowning among a sea of idiots and the Chicago clique could care less about the nice guy from Arlington Heights. In Springfield Walker is, as the Pink Floyd song goes, just another brick in the wall.

As Illinois voters, we rarely get the chance to vote for an All-Star outside of professional sports. David Harris' prior service in the General Assembly, experience managing sophisticated budgets and his interpersonal leadership skills are exactly what we need right now.

Harris will be a legislator that we can be proud of and count on to consistently represent the best interests of the Northwest suburbs. Please join me and vote for David Harris on Nov. 2.
