Scouting Hersey at Barrington

Hersey (2-0) at Barrington (2-0)

When: 7:30 p.m. today at Barrington Community Stadium

Last week: Hersey d. Hoffman 20-7; Barrington d. Elk Grove 30-23 (ot)

Outlook: Hersey looks to exceed its combined win total of the last three seasons and start 3-0 for the first time in nine years and Barrington looks to match its win total of last year and win its first three for the second time in three years. "They're playing really well right now," said Barrington coach Joe Sanchez. "They have two quality wins and Dragan (first-year coach Teonic) has really got them going." And Teonic knows what Hersey's defense, which had four take-aways and was led last week by Erik Stoltzner, Dylan Santora, Jason Olson, Fred Scales and Jake Mueller, is up against. "They're going to outweigh us anywhere from 60 to 100 pounds upfront," Teonic said. "And Chase Murdock (278 yards rushing) is really good. We're going to have to protect the ball and play well." Hersey RB Chris Polinski and QB Brad Zaucha are off to solid starts while Barrington was opportunistic last week with Kyle Bromm returning an INT for a score and Rob Wagner sealing the victory with an INT in overtime. Teonic said it would be a game-time decision if lineman Tom Sutrinaitis would return from injury. Barrington has won nine in a row and 11 of the last 12 meetings to lead the series 20-7.
