Plan for college:Mundelein High School's college and career resource center staff will present a college-planning event on Tuesday, Sept. 14. The activity will begin at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium. It's aimed at parents whose children will attend college next year. For more information, call (847) 949-2200, ext. 1248 or ext. 1249.Trail to close:A small section of trail at the Greenbelt Forest Preserve near Waukegan will be temporarily closed for storm sewer repairs starting Tuesday. The section in question loops around the southeast corner of Pulaski Lake. The rest of the trail loop will remain open. The segment is expected to reopen Oct. 7.Regional recycling action in Libertyville:Solid Waste Agency of Lake County will it dubs as a two-day "collection event" from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sept. 17 and 18. It'll be at Lake County Division of Transportation facility, 600 W. Winchester Road, Libertyville. Local residents are encouraged to bring computer equipment, home electronics, appliances and other items for recycling. There is no charge for the service, but it's restricted to Lake County residents. No commercial or business materials will be accepted. Dehumidifiers, air conditioners, large appliances, electric lighting fixtures, broken glass and household chemical waste also will not be collected at the event.
