Scouting Rolling Meadows at Palatine

Rolling Meadows (1-0) at Palatine (0-1)

When: 7:30 p.m. today at Chic Anderson Stadium

Last week: Meadows d. Fort Wayne Wayne 25-6; Palatine lost to Lake Forest 28-21

Outlook: The trip for Meadows this week is much shorter but also tougher against a talented Palatine team looking to rebound. "They could have easily won that game; Lake Forest is a lot better team than people think," said Meadows coach Doug Millsaps. "It's the same challenge this week. We have to limit the big plays we gave up last week." But Meadows' turned away Fort Wayne twice inside its 6 and QB Kevin Cywnar had a solid first start at 17-for-24 for 249 yards and a TD to Artie Checchin. Palatine coach Tyler Donnelly said "we gave up a couple of big plays and missed a couple of big plays" but liked a lot of what he saw with QB Cody Bobbit and MLB-RB Jim Smearman and WR-S Jesse Bobbit going both ways. Palatine leads the series 10-6 but Meadows has won the last three. "It's typical Meadows - they're physical and run the ball well and pride themselves on defense," Donnelly said. "They have a good inside linebacker (Colin Buscarini) and he's a presence."
