Bartlett powers past Hoffman in season opener

Bartlett drove 80 yards on the opening possession and never looked back en route to a 25-3 season-opening, nonconference football victory over visiting Hoffman Estates on Saturday afternoon at Streamwood's Millennium Field.

Aaron Thabuteau's 17-yard run capped the first drive and Joey Scaminaci hit Lorenzo Mittchell with the conversion pass for an 8-0 lead.

A.J. Bilyeu (13-for-23, 65 yards) hit tight end Russell Martin with a 6-yard touchdown pass just 11 seconds before halftime for an 18-3 lead. Andy Puccini, who had 58 of Bartlett's 185 rushing yards, threw an 81-yard option pass to Zach Karys to make it 25-3.

Nate Odisho also rushed for 85 yards and Ian Dobek kicked a 38-yard field goal for Bartlett.

Niko Crambes nailed a 40-yard field goal into a 20-mph wind in the second quarter to get Hoffman within 11-3. Michael Reeves rushed for 156 yards on 24 carries as Hoffman lost its 17th straight game.
