Dance showcase:The CGPACtion Student Service Club will hold its fourth annual Student Choreographed Showcase at 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28. More than 80 dancers are involved in 13 dances, choreographed by students. These young performers have worked all summer to put this show together. The proceeds from the show will be donated to the Cary-Grove Food Pantry. Almost $3,000 has already been raised. Tickets are $10 each and will be sold at the door, or call (847) 639-3800 to buy in advance.Roads closed in S. Elgin:Daily lane closures during the week of Aug. 30 on Route 25 between Hickory Lane and Gilbert Street in South Elgin will reduce traffic to one lane. It will occur between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. and last for five to seven days.Sherman unveils brick program:Sherman Health Foundation has kicked off a new "Celebration Brick Program" through which community members may buy engraved bricks that will be installed on the lakefront terrace on the hospital's new campus at 1425 N. Randall Road, Elgin. Funds raised in the program will support the work of the hospital. Bricks purchased by Sept. 17 will be installed in October. River St. in East Dundee is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays. Located adjacent to the Fox River Bicycle Trail, The Depot is for walkers, runners, cyclists and in-line skaters to take a minute to enjoy the surroundings. The Depot offers snacks, beverages and a restroom, as well Dundee-themed merchandise.Violence counseling offered:The Community Crisis Center in Elgin provides domestic violence counseling services for northwestern Kane County.
