Scouting Jacobs at Joliet West

Jacobs (2-7) at Joliet West

When: Saturday at 1 p.m.

Last year: First meeting

Outlook: The Bill Mitz era officially begins at Jacobs with a matinee in Joliet, where the Tigers will host their first home game in 18 years. In 1993, Joliet West and another high school combined to form Joliet Township H.S., but the district has again grown and split the high school population. Mitz and Co. hope to spoil the party. Joliet West coach Jason Aubry took over the program at Joliet Township in 2006. He has a record of 4-32 through four seasons. Aubry coached Johnsburg in 2004 and 2005, leading the Skyhawks to 17-5 mark. The Tigers are a relative unknown to the Jacobs staff. "We know a couple of things about their wide receivers but that's about it," said Mitz, who enters his 29th season 3 wins shy of 200 for his career. "They're pretty much how Johnsburg was last year: they're spread and they're throwing the ball with three wide, four wide and five wide.
