Your news: Hogs for Dogs charity ride to be held Sept. 19

Heartland Animal Shelter's Fourth Annual Hogs for Dogs (and Kitties too) is slated to get underway 10:45 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 19.

The ride, which is sponsored by the Chicago HOG Chapter, starts at the animal shelter, 2975 Milwaukee Ave., Northbrook, and ends at Side-Outs Bar, 4018 Roberts Road in Island Lake. There will be live music, free food for registered attendees and great raffle prizes.

Participants are encouraged to bring a donation item to help the animals from Heartland's animal wish list at heartlandanimalshelter.net and will receive a free raffle ticket for each donation.

Advance registration is $25 for adults and $10 for children and you may register online at heartlandanimalshelter.net/events or by mailing your check to Heartland Animal Shelter, 2975 Milwaukee Ave., Northbrook, IL 60062. Make checks payable to Heartland Animal Shelter and note "Hogs for Dogs" on the memo section of the check.

Personal Web pages to help raise funds for the animals may be set up at firstgiving.com/has. Registration will increase to $30 the day of the event. Heartland Animal Shelter is a nonprofit, no kill shelter.
