Learn how to turn your idea into cash

The Illinois Small Business Development Center at Waubonsee Community College and the Center for Business Education, Innovation and Development announce the second in a series of events titled "The Entrepreneurship Connection" on from 8 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, at the Aurora Campus of Waubonsee Community College, 5 E. Galena Blvd.

This program is "From Concept to Cash." Keynote speakers will be Gerald Jackson and Joe Zlotnicki of Green Light Industries. Before starting Green Light Industries, Jackson was an accelerator physicist at Fermilab for 14 years.

He was co-recipient of the 1999 IEEE Accelerator Technology Award for his design and construction leadership of a 2-mile circumference particle accelerator. He also founded Hbar Technologies LLC, a company that performs research and development for NASA and the Department of Defense.

Zlotnicki is an entrepreneur with several business interests including a high-tech startup in pattern recognition and a consulting company offering services in radiation protection and general business matters.

Previously, he spent 13 years with Landauer Inc., most recently as top international executive and 10 years with Amersham International in the United Kingdom and the U.S.

The mission of Green Light Industries is to develop electric power solutions through the efficient conversion of thermal energy generated by chemical reactions.

The primary application envisioned for this technology is environmentally friendly power sources for electric vehicles.

After keynote presentation, attendees will participate in their choice of two of four breakout sessions: intellectual property and how to protect it while at the same time promoting it; financing the entrepreneurial business; beyond the prototype; and entrepreneurship center, a discussion about the possibilities for an entrepreneurship center in the region.

Attendance is by registration only. To register for the event or for more information, visit waubonseetickets.com. The fee is $10.
