Two killed in fiery crash on Reagan tollway

Two 17-year-olds, one from Naperville, died in a fiery crash Sunday night on Interstate 88 near Winfield, the DuPage County coroner's office said Monday.

An autopsy showed that Adnaan Rahman of Naperville and Nasir Shaik of Darien died of "multiple traumatic injuries to the head and neck," the office said on its website.

Illinois State Police District 15 Sgt. Matt Hodgdon said three crash scene investigators are still trying to determine, among other things, how fast the westbound 2002 silver Porsche was traveling when it sideswiped a Dodge Caravan, spun out, slid into a ditch and then rolled over, catching fire.

"It's going to take a couple of days at least before they come up with a more definitive account of the crash," Hodgdon said.

Rahman was going to be a senior at Waubonsie Valley High School. Friends of Rahman set up a page on the social networking website Facebook called "Adnaan. We Love You. RIP." The page had nearly 1,000 fans late Monday night.

"Adnaan would have done anything for anybody. That's what made him who he is," wrote the page's creator, Tehrreem Hussain.

Police said earlier speed appeared to be a factor in the crash. The two teens were pronounced dead at the scene and no one in the Caravan was injured.

Portions of the westbound lanes of I-88 were shut down while the scene was investigated.
