Benedictine receives grant:Benedictine University in Lisle has been awarded a grant of more than $188,000 over the next two years to promote education and training that will help U.S. business to prosper in an international economy. The Title VI Business and International Education Program grant was given by the U.S. Department of Education. Benedictine's College of Business will develop a web portal to enhance interactions among students, faculty and area businesses with international partners and businesses. Scholarships will allow undergraduate and graduate students to travel abroad for academic course work. The grant also will provide for workshops to be given to local business leaders through the Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce.Wheaton mayor wins award:Wheaton Mayor Michael Gresk has been named the local Rotary Club's 4-Way Test Person of the Year. The annual award is given to someone who adheres to the principles of fairness and high moral standards embodied in the 4-Way Test of Rotary International, club officials said. Gresk said in a statement that he was "truly gratified and humbled" to win the award. "Anyone familiar with the activities of Rotary realizes the impact Rotarians have on local, regional and international causes," Gresk said. "To be recognized in such a fashion is a great honor."School supplies needed:Loaves Fishes Community Pantry is collecting school supplies for students in need. Distribution starts Tuesday and will last until the end of the month while supplies last. Needed items include: pencils, pens, colored pencils, markers, highlighters, folders, wide-ruled notebook paper, erasers and glue sticks. Donations may be brought from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to noon Friday and noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at 556 W. 5th Ave., Naperville. For details, call (630) 355-3663.
