Police: Aurora man lied about stabbing, stabbed himself
An Aurora man has been charged with felony disorderly conduct for lying to Crystal Lake police when he said he was the victim of a home invasion that ended with his stabbing, police said.
In reality, Lee A. Ivy, 25, stabbed himself and a stranger never entered the home, Crystal Lake police said.
According to a news release, police were notified of a home invasion at 1:44 a.m. Thursday at a home in the 700 block of Point Drive in Crystal Lake.
Ivy, of the 500 block of Palace Street in Aurora, told police that a man forced his way into his friend's Crystal Lake home and stabbed Ivy in the leg with a knife.
Ivy was taken to Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry, where he was treated for a stab wound to his left thigh.
But a subsequent police investigation determined Ivy fabricated the entire incident, police said.
Ivy later admitted that he stabbed himself, police said.
He was arrested Tuesday on a charge of filing a false police report, which in his case, is a Class 4 felony.
Ivy was released from custody after posting $1,000 - his bail had been set at $10,000.
Class 4 felonies come with prison sentences that range between one and four years.
Ivy's next court date was not yet known.
