• Barrington District 220 named Lynn Swanson Instructional Technology coordinator. Swanson is National Board Certified in technology and holds a master's degree in technology education. Her experience includes leadership as an instructional technology specialist for public school districts in Wheeling, Wilmette and Gurnee. Swanson replaces Ben Grey, who is now director of Technology and Communications for Oak Lawn Hometown School District 123.

In her new role, Swanson will maintain a districtwide scope and sequence for instructional technology, provide professional development for staff, and support 21st century learners with new technologies.

• Elite Athletic Development Inc., Arlington Heights, welcomed Certified Athletic Trainer and NASM Certified Personal Trainer Becky Rivard, who joins Elite from Athletico, where she served as the athletic trainer for a high school baseball team and ran youth athletic speed and agility camps. She was also an athletic trainer at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C., where she worked with soldiers during Basic Combat Training.

As a National Academy of Sports Medicine Corrective Exercise Specialist and Performance Enhancement Specialist, Rivard will help Elite develop injury prevention programs for youth and adult athletes and launch a series of clinics to diagnose and correct common movement errors.

As a collegiate track and field athlete, Rivard was a four-time All Conference Award Winner. She also played basketball, softball, volleyball and ran cross country.

• The Rotary Club of Schaumburg/Hoffman Estates installed its 2010-2011 officers and also recognized member achievement at a dinner on Thursday, June 24, at Chandler's Chophouse and Grille in Schaumburg.

The Aaron Ruff Award was presented to Julie Clark, who was selected by previous recipients. This Rotarian has demonstrated use of the Four Way Test in business and personal interactions. The award is named in memory of a club member who lived by practicing the tenets of the Four Way Test.

The Russell Granzow Rookie of the Year Award was presented to Gary Anderson of Schaumburg, G.L. Anderson and Associates. Established in 1996 and named in tribute to the club's past Governor, the award honors a newcomer who, within their first 18 months of membership, has exemplary participation and commitment.

Rotarian of the Year was presented to Gayle Vandenbergh. The award is presented to the Rotarian who has demonstrated dedication to the club, support to the board, participation on committees, involvement in fellowship, initiative to achieve club goals and service above self.
