Dist. 204 enters second year with trailers at Aurora grade school

A projected enrollment of 842 students ensures the two modular classrooms will remain at Nancy Young Elementary School in Aurora for at least another year.

Indian Prairie Unit District 203 board members approved a resolution Monday, along with other inspection forms required by the DuPage County Regional Office of Education.

"The modular classrooms are necessary due to the number of required classroom sections exceeding the building design," said Director of Building Operations Todd DePaul. "The use of modular classrooms is a temporary solution, and administration is monitoring the enrollment of all grade levels with a recommendation for a permanent solution to be in place by June 30, 2012."

The classrooms were brought in before the start of the 2009-2010 school year and housed both fourth grade sessions. Doing so allowed every class, including art and music, to have a permanent location as officials predicted an annual increase of 30 students, up from 782 to 842 by the 2011-2012 school year.
