Bond increased for gun charge
Bond was increased Tuesday for Cortez Wamble, 18, of the 200 block of Shagbark Lane in Streamwood, who was charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm in April in Hanover Park.
The bond was raised to a total of $125,000 at the request of the Cook County State's Attorney's office. His bond had been $55,000 for this incident where police said he leaned from a car and shot at a man and a woman in another vehicle and an additional $40,000 for an earlier incident this year involving a gun.
Wamble's attorney, Donna Rotunno of Westchester, argued against an increase, telling the court that the day before the shooting Wamble was in the hospital and had broken ribs from an altercation with the person who was shot at the next day. She said that given his medical condition, Wamble could not have leaned out of the car to do the shooting.
She also said witnesses have told police that Wamble was not the shooter. His next court appearance is Aug. 12.
