Schaumburg teen gets boot camp in drug deal gone bad

The third Schaumburg resident involved in what authorities described as a drug deal gone awry was sentenced to the Cook County Sheriff's Department boot camp Wednesday in exchange for his guilty plea to reduced charges of robbery and aggravated battery.

Authorities say 19-year-old Carmichael Nation, of the 600 block of Newton Court, accompanied Nicholas Kastner, 17, and Marlon Wilkinson, 20, to a Streamwood residence on Feb. 28, 2009. The trio demanded property from the resident, who struck Wilkinson with a metal object, said Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Mike Gerber. Nation held the victim while Wilkinson stabbed him in the body and leg with a kitchen knife, authorities said.

The men took a safe belonging to the victim, who was hospitalized but recovered from his wounds.

None of the three has a criminal background.

Earlier this week, Kastner was sentenced to 30 months' probation and Wilkinson was sentenced to four years in prison.
