School budget talk plannedThe Libertyville-Vernon Hills Area High School District 128 board's finance committee will talk about the budget for the 2011 fiscal year tonight. The meeting is set for 6:15 p.m. at Vernon Hills High, 145 N. Lakeview Parkway. The full board will talk about the budget at a separate meeting at 7 p.m.Holiday picnic plannedLakeland VFW Post No. 2486, American Legion Post No. 911 and the village of Island Lake are sponsoring a parade and family picnic on Independence Day. The parade will start at 10 a.m. and run along Burnett Road. The picnic will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Veterans Park, which is on Route 176 near Lakeview Drive. Free hot dogs and soda will be available. Games and crafts are scheduled, too.Instructional election videoAn election results video is now available on the Lake County Clerk website. The instructional video provides an in-depth tour of the election results data available to Lake County residents and describes the various features of the election results web page including maps, filters and advanced reports. Visitors save time and calls for information will be reduced, according to Lake County Clerk Willard Helander. "If we can prepare everyone in advance on how to obtain the results easily and efficiently, then our office staff can focus on their Election Day duties, saving time and tax dollars," Helander said.
