Fox Lake man charged in Lakemoor home invasion
A 35-year-old Fox Lake man appeared in court Friday facing up to 30 years in prison after his arrest on charges he broke into his girlfriend's Lakemoor home and struck her.
Victor M. Castillon, of the 0-100 block of South Lake Avenue, is charged with home invasion and battery in connection with the incident, which police said occurred about 4:30 a.m. Thursday in the 600 block of Columbus Street.
Lakemoor Police Chief Mike Marchese said Castillon entered the home through a first-floor window and got into an argument with the 29-year-old woman.
"At that point, he battered her," Marchese said. "He punched her in the face with a fist, according to the allegations."
Castillon then left the home, but was arrested later Thursday when officers contacted him and asked him to come to the police station, Marchese said. He was transferred to the McHenry County jail, where he remained Friday unable to post $7,500 cash bond.
The victim, police said, refused medical treatment, but obtained an emergency order of protection Thursday from Castillon.
The home invasion charge is a Class X felony, punishable by a mandatory six to 30 years in prison. Battery is a Class A misdemeanor, punishable by a maximum of one year in jail and $2,500 fine. He is scheduled to return to court July 1.
