Join in Elgin Lanes bowling leaguesElgin Lanes will host a summer youth bowling program for youth, age 3 to 20. The 10-week camp will run from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturdays, June 12 to Aug. 21 (except July 3).Every Saturday, bowlers will receive free games of bowling, shoes, hot dog and soda. The cost for the program for Pee Wees, ages 3-5, is $50 (2 games) and for youth, age 5-20, the cost is $60 (3 games). Students from junior high to college level can extend their singing experience with this well-established men's chorus. This is a chance to sing close harmony, a cappella music. You can improve your sight reading and listening techniques and try singing in a quartet. Some singers may want to try directing the chorus. You are not required to officially join the chorus. Director Doug Smith will be teaching various techniques. The chorus plans to put on a concert toward the end of the summer for friends and family.The Fox Valley Men of Harmony meet from 7:15 to 9:30 p.m. Mondays in the choir room of the First United Methodist Church, 216 E. Veterans from four different VA hospitals will be attending. Approximately 500 veterans from Illinois and Wisconsin will be bussed to Lions Park, 102 Beachway in Fox River Grove along the Fox River near the Route 14 bridge. There will be food, soda, music, bingo, games, pontoon boat rides, and camaraderie. This is the largest picnic held in Illinois for veterans. Volunteers and monetary donations are needed.
