Schaumburg police charge man with dealing heroin near schools
A two-month undercover Schaumburg police sting has led to the arrest of a 33-year-old man who faces charges that he sold heroin near two schools.
Police said they found about 20 grams of heroin and 12 grams of cannabis inside the home of 33-year-old Lionel James of the 200 block of Wapoos Court, Schaumburg. Police estimate the drugs are worth $7,000.
Charges are also pending against a 31-year-old Streamwood man, police added.
Police arrested James on Friday at his home and charged him with six counts of delivery of a controlled substance, six counts of delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 fee of a school and possession with intent to deliver 10 to 20 grams of cannabis, police said.
James lives near Schaumburg High School and Enders-Salk Elementary School. Police made four undercover drug purchases from James' home during the investigation, Schaumburg police Sgt. John Nebl added.
James appeared in court and was given a $50,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for June 23 in Rolling Meadows.
