Get in the warm-weather mood with cool seasonal cocktails

Creamy cocktails and dark beers have gotten you through the cold months, but now that things are heating up, it's time for something a little more refreshing. Local bars and restaurants show off the tastes of spring and summer with seasonal cocktails made with herbs, fresh fruit and warm weather favorites like lemonade and iced tea. We've rounded up a list so you'll have plenty of options to keep your thirst quenched all summer long.

• The Grand Station, 101 W. Campbell St., Arlington Heights, (847) 255-5050: The $9 mango martini offers tropical tastes, mixing mango purée with guava-infused Ketel One vodka and Cointreau. For $10, try The Blushing Pear, which features Grey Goose La Poire, prickly pear purée and white cranberry juice.

• Francesca's Tavola, 208 S. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, (847) 394-3950: There are plenty of fruity options on Francesca's cocktail menu, including the Grapefruitini, which features Belvedere Pink Grapefruit vodka, grapefruit juice, triple sec and cranberry juice, and the Juicy Watermelon Martini, made from watermelon Pucker, Absolut Kurrant and lime juice. The drinks are $8 to $10, but you can get them for $5 in the lounge Fridays.

• Duke's Alehouse & Kitchen, 110 N. Main St., Crystal Lake, (815) 356-9980: The $7.50 strawberry mint mojito may be mixed with different berries depending on what's fresh, but you can count on getting mint, soda, lime and Bacardi rum.

• Carlucci, 1801 Butterfield Road, Downers Grove, (630) 512-0990: Not a vodka fan? Try the $9 Corzo Strawberry Pineapple-Tini, with fresh fruit muddled with tequila.

• Big Bowl, 215 Parkway Drive, Lincolnshire, (847) 808-8880: The $9.95 Thai herb mojito gives the classic cocktail an extra spicy kick. Gin, lime, lemon juice, soda water and mint are mixed with cilantro, lemon grass syrup and finely minced Thai chili pepper.

• CityGate Grille, 2020 Calamos Court, Naperville, (630) 718-1010: The restaurant's spring cocktail menu includes the Silk Peach, a mix of Ciroc Coconut, peach nectar, egg white and skim milk. For something less creamy, try the Sweetly Confused, which features pear juice, Grey Goose Pear and Stoli Applik. Both are $12.

• Hugo's Frog Bar and Fish House, 55 S. Main St., Naperville, (630) 548-3764: Raspberries, sour mix and Bombay Sapphire come together in the $9 Twisted Vintage Collins.

• Meson Sabika, 1025 Aurora Ave., Naperville, (630) 983-3000: The $9.25 pomegranate mojito features pomegranate purée with Bacardi Rum, mint and lime.

• SugarToad, 2139 CityGate Lane, Naperville, (630) 778-8623: For $12, berry fans can enjoy the Praha Devil, which features Square One organic vodka, pomegranate juice, lemon juice, Chambord and blackberries and blueberries. For the same price, try Frankenberry Goes to Hollywood, house-infused pineapple-ginger vodka and pineapple juice muddled with strawberries.

• Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse, 5464 N. River Road, Rosemont, (847) 928-9900: Savor the taste of fresh herbs in the $12 Basil Gimlet Martini, mixed with Hendricks Gin and lime juice.

• Ice Bar, 5300 N. River Road, Rosemont, (847) 544-5300: You can feel good about ordering one of the bar's new TREEtinis. For every $14 cocktail purchased, a tree will be planted in monsoon-ravaged Tamil Nadu, India. All are refreshing, but the most summery pick is the Rose TREEtini, a mix of rosewater, VeeV Acai Spirit, lemonade, raspberries and mint leaves.

• Sam & Harry's, 1551 N. Thoreau Drive, Schaumburg, (847) 303-4050: Have your lemonade with a vodka kick by ordering up a $12 Arnold-tini. If you prefer something fruity, try The Raspberry. The $9 drink mixes Stoli Razberi Vodka, raspberry purée and Cointreau.
