Cortez, Chicago, was arrested at 11:01 p.m. April 22 and charged with aggravated assault, reckless conduct, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, speeding, no proof of insurance, driving on the wrong side of the road, disobeying a police office and disobeying a red light, after an incident at Meijer, 1301 Meijer Drive. While responding to a retail theft report, the responding officer found Williams in the Meijer parking lot. The officer instructed Williams to stay where she was, but she sped off and nearly struck the officer, reports said. Williams was charged with retail theft. According to reports, security staff at Walmart observed the suspects place price tags for lesser amount items on more expensive items. They exited the store after paying $14.30 for items valued at $396, reports said.
