Ingleside man arrested for allegedly growing pot at McHenry Co. business
An Ingleside man has been charged with growing marijuana plants in a business he owns in Ringwood, McHenry County Sheriff investigators said in a news release.
Antonio H. Sadikoff, 30, of the 26000 block of W. Marshall Avenue, was charged with two counts of unlawful production of cannabis sativa plants.
He has been released from McHenry County jail after posting the required 10 percent of his $40,000 bond, officials said in the news release sent Monday.
If found guilty, he could spend up to seven years in prison, officials said.
On May 2, a deputy was investigating an overhead door left open in the 5000 block of Business Parkway, police said. The deputy smelled marijuana as he began his search, and called in the McHenry County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit.
Narcotics investigators and a K-9 unit from Wauconda discovered an indoor cannabis growing lab operation. It included more than 300 grams of processed cannabis and 86 approximately 4- to 5-feet tall actively growing cannabis plants.
They also recovered nutrients, lights, ballasts, water pumps and exhaust tubing used to cultivate the plants, officials said in the news release.
Police estimate the street value of the seized cannabis to be in excess of $87,000.
It is unclear when Sadikoff is due back in court to answer charges.
