Vernon Hills tops Lake Forest in 3

Vernon Hills d. Lake Forest: David Swanson and Mike Robinson slammed 8 and 7 kills, respectively, as the Cougars won the North Suburban Conference match 25-11, 21-25, 25-8.

Vernon Hills also received 6 kills from Garrett Kubacki and five from Robin Moy. Swanson delivered 6 aces, as well, while Robbie Appelbaum served 4 aces. Kubacki also had 3 blocks, and Justin Opitz set 26 of 28 with 16 assists. Andrew Welter dished out 11 assists on 25-of-26 setting.

Said Vernon Hills coach Chris Curry: "This was a good match for us to try some new combinations, to get everybody out there and see what each guy had to contribute now that we're a quarter through our season. Garrett Kubacki had a really strong night playing sets 1 and 3."

Libertyville d. Warren: The Wildcats claimed a 25-19, 25-20 win in North Suburban Conference action, as Eric Banduch pounded 4 kills.

Matt Tassler and Eric Handrich each had 3 kills for Libertyville (2-4, 1-1). Tassler and Dan Nield each posted blocks
