Schaumburg woman, 24, killed in Crystal Lake crash
A two-car crash in Crystal Lake over the weekend killed a Schaumburg woman and injured three other people, according to police.
Kyle J. Sievert, 23, of Arlington Heights, was driving a 2001 Pontiac Trans Am west on Waterford Cut, then turned south onto Huntley Road about 11:48 p.m. Saturday, Crystal Lake police said. Sievert reportedly lost control of the car and crossed into the northbound lane, colliding with a 1994 Jeep Cherokee, police said.
Vanessa M. Toby, 24, of Schaumburg, a passenger in the Pontiac, was taken to Centegra Memorial Medical Center in Woodstock where she died from her injuries.
Another passenger in the Pontiac, Jennifer Franklin, 25, of Mount Prospect was taken by helicopter to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. Pontiac passenger Mariana Mitich, 28, of Hawthorn Woods, was transported by ambulance to Centegra's Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry for non-life-threatening injuries.
Sievert was transported by ambulance to Centegra Memorial Medical Center in Woodstock. Their conditions were not available Sunday.
The driver of the Jeep, Mark A. Maioni, 34, and his passenger Kari Singer, 33, both of Crystal Lake, were examined by rescue personnel on the scene and released.
Investigators from the Crystal Lake Police Department and McHenry County State's Attorney's Office are investigating.
