New Trier triumphs at Prospect
State title contender New Trier won titles at five of seven spots and claimed the team championship of the Prospect badminton invitational Saturday.
Courtney Lai won at No. 1 singles and Allison Doren at No. 2 as the Trevians finished with 45 points. Their first doubles team of Eunice Kim and Hannah Doran took the title over Palatine's Katie and Maggie Van Grondelle with an 18-21, 21-18, 21-14 win.
Glenbrook South took second with 33 points and Hersey was third (28) as Rossy Iovtcheva took second at No. 2 singles.
Palatine took fifth as its No. 2 doubles team of Lora Weiss and Beth Gleason took second. Prospect was sixth as its No. 2 doubles team of Heather Harnvanich and Mary Szabo took fourth and Wheeling was seventh with Shannen Chechang finishing second at No. 1 singles to Lai.
