Callie Dennison had a triple and a home run and picked up the win in the circle Friday as Bartlett downed Larkin 11-5 in an Upstate Eight Conference softball game in Elgin.
The Hawks (3-1, 1-0) scored 10 runs in the third inning to put the game away.
Kaytlyn Zierke and Sammie Treskow each had doubles for Bartlett and Kiernan Schock had 2 doubles for the Royals (1-7, 0-1).
Megan Johnson suffered the loss for Larkin.
Huntley falls twice: Jenna Mychko and Kelsey Hagan each hit solo home runs but Huntley fell to defending Class 3A state champ Oak Forest 6-3 in the opening round of the Freeport tournament. Randi Peterson also had an RBI for the Red Raiders and Taylor Larson suffered the loss in the circle. Huntley (3-2) then suffered a tough 4-3 loss to Marengo. Hagan had another home run for the Red Raiders and was 3-for-4 with 2 RBI, while Tara Lycos had a double and Peterson drove in a run. Larson suffered the loss in the circle despite allowing just 5 hits. Huntley committed 4 errors in the game. The Red Raiders continue tournament play this morning against Milledgeville.
