Bartlett sweeps: The Bartlett girls softball team opened the season Saturday with a nonconference doubleheader sweep of Naperville North. The Hawks won 3-2 and 4-1.

Callie Dennison had 8 strikeouts and allowed 5 hits in the opener for Bartlett. Megan Morales, Kelsey Warrick and Kaylyn Zierke each doubled for the Hawks.

In Game 2, Amanda Montbriand picked up the win, allowing 5 hits with 5 strikeouts. Dennison, Nicole Palmer and Sammy Treskow each tripled for the Hawks and Nicole Beck had a double.

Streamwood sweeps D-C: Amanda Patterson and Jenna Szabo picked up the pitching wins as Streamwood (4-0) swept a nonconference doubleheader from Dundee-Crown by scores of 7-4 and 9-3. Patterson and Jen Mellenthin (3 RBI) each had 2 hits for the Sabres in the opener and Melene Eikler added a triple. Pattersonn allowed 4 hits and had 6 strikeouts. Losing pitcher Melany Love had a triple for Dundee-Crown. In the nightcap, Szabo allowed 4 hits and had 5 strikeouts. Dani Fisher had 3 doubles and 2 RBI for the Sabres, while Mellenthin had 2 hits and 2 RBI. Amanda Eissler suffered the loss for the Chargers and Love had another triple.

Huntley sweeps South Elgin: Jenna Mychko went 4-for-4 with 2 RBI in the opener and Randi Peterson had a double and 2 RBI in the nightcap as Huntley swept South Elgin by scores of 10-4 and 6-4. Taylor Larson picked up the win in the circle in Game 1 for the Red Raiders, while Tara Lycos (RBI), Larson (RBI) and Kelsey Hagen each went 2-for-4 with doubles for Huntley. Rae Bosteder and Alyssa Krause hit home runs for South Elgin. Sam Bolin suffered the loss. In Game 2, Kacy Kane earned the win for Huntley (3-0), which also got 2 hits each from Nikki DeMarco and Geena Rubondo (RBI). Courtney Bosteder had an RBI for South Elgin and Xenia Cerda was the losing pitcher.

Larkin falls twice: Larkin lost a nonconference doubleheader slugfest at DeKalb by scores of 12-8 and 14-10. Kiernan Schock was 3-for-5 and Megan Johnson 2-for-4 with a home run and 2 RBI in the opener for the Royals. Johnson also suffered the loss in the circle. In Game 2, Corinne Wimmer was 4-for-5 with 4 runs scored, while Ashley Frey went 3-for-5 with 3 RBI, Lexi Smithberg was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Maggie Hoffman had 3 RBI for the Royals (1-4). Schock was the losing pitcher.
