Lake in the Hillsbull; Lake in the Hills police is reporting a pair of suspicious incidents that involve strangers approaching children. At 7 p.m. Friday, a man repeatedly asked a 6-year-old boy at Highwood and Thistle lanes if he wanted a ride home. The boy declined and the car, described as a Volkswagen Beetle or PT Cruiser, left the area. The man was described as wearing a zippered sweatshirt with a high collar - his age and race were not known. Then at 4:10 p.m. Tuesday, a man approached a 12-year-old boy at Hiawatha and Cheyenne drives and asked the boy if he needed a ride. The boy said no and the man drove his gray, older model sedan south on Hiawatha Drive. The driver is described as a white man in his mid-40s with brown hair. If you have information about either case, call police at (847) 658-5676.Fox River Grovebull; Fox River Grove Police are investigating a case at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday in which a young man slowed his black SUV down to talk to a 12-year-old girl in the 500 block of Opatrny Drive. According to police, the man said, "Hey, how are you doing, what are you doing?" The girl didn't speak to the man and he was last seen leaving the area on Illinois Street toward Northwest Highway. The man is described as a tall and white, between 16 and 20 years old, with a brownish blond Mohawk haircut. The first letter on his license plate is X. Police, in the meantime, have notified school officials and increased patrols at both Fox River Grove Elementary District 3 schools.
