Three charged in McHenry Co. liquor sting
Workers at three McHenry County businesses have been charged with selling alcohol to minors after a recently completed undercover sting operation by the county sheriff's office.
Charged were Tiffany M. Faczek, 26, a worker at Town Liquors in Algonquin; Linda D. Dinelli, 60, of Rez's Food Shop in Cary; and Tiffany L. Charping, 27, of the Shell Food Mart in McHenry.
Each faces a Class A misdemeanor punishable by up to $2,500 in fines and a year in the county jail. Sheriff's police also notified the county liquor commission of the arrests for possible penalties against the business owners.
The charges culminate a monthlong operation that involved underage volunteers entering 32 businesses that sell or serve alcohol and attempting a purchase. The minors were turned down at 29 of the establishments.
