Never more proud to be HEHS alumni
My husband Chris and I are Hoffman Estates High alums.
With two sons that have joined us in the ranks and two sons who are current students, we have been very happy with our decision to stay in the neighborhood so they would be able to attend HEHS.
Over the past nine years with our sons at Hoffman, we have always been proud of the groups in which they have participated: bands; choirs; Lacrosse; baseball; football; theater, etc. The two of us also co-chair the Post Prom Committee with the help of two other moms, and we have always bragged at how awesome and respectful the students who attend are.
On 2/19/10 we attended the "Hawks for Haiti, Hope Takes Flight" fundraiser in the school gymnasium, the brainchild of an HEHS student, Dani Wilson.
Within just a couple of weeks along with her fellow students, she was able to organize the stage crew, lighting, T-shirts and dozens of acts including the choir, bands, orchestra, dancers (Dani included), pom groups, self-composed poetry accompanied by student musicians, a slide show display of the art students expressing their feelings toward the people of Haiti accompanied by students playing music, the cast of the upcoming school musical - even some teachers graced us with their talents.
On a Friday evening these students chose instead of going out, to help people that they will never even know. How selfless they all were, as well as the hundreds of students and the families that turned out.
Thank you to the administration at HEHS for supporting these kids and letting them show what they could do for others.
NEVER have we been MORE PROUD to be HAWKS and parents, then we were that night! I honestly could feel the community spirit in the room.
Kudos to you all, we should all remember how good this made us feel and continue to help those in need in any way that we can, and not just in the wake of tragedy but in our daily lives even if it just means cheering someone up.
