Huntley High music groups to perform

On Thursday, March 4, the third annual "Festival of Music" will be presented at 7 p.m. at the Huntley High School Performing Arts Center, 13719 Harmony Road, Huntley.

This celebration of music features the Huntley High School Jazz Band, Percussion Ensemble, Concert Band, Wind Symphony and the Sun City Concert Band.

The combined bands will play two numbers. Donna Bressler, conductor of the Sun City Concert Band, will conduct "Flourish for Wind Band," and Nick Knowerski, the Huntley High School band director, will conduct Wagner's "Die Meistersinger."

The concert is free. Donations are accepted, with a suggested donation of $5. All proceeds go to the Huntley High School Band Department.

Last year, approximately $700 was raised, with an additional donation of $500 from the Sun City Concert Band. This year, the Sun City Concert Band will match all donations up to a total of $1,000. A music scholarship, sponsored by the Sun City Concert Band, will be awarded at the concert.
