• Air Force Airman Shawna M. Davis graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Davis, the daughter of Mary and Craig Morrison of Hanover Park, is a 2007 graduate of Lake Park High School, Roselle.
• Marine Corps Pvt. Lee Xiong, a 2009 graduate of
Schaumburg High School, completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S. C., designed to challenge new Marine recruits both physically and mentally.
In addition to the physical conditioning program, Xiong spent numerous hours in classroom and field assignments which included learning first aid, uniform regulations, combat water survival, marksmanship, hand-to-hand combat and assorted weapons training.
Xiong and other recruits also received instruction on the Marine Corps' core values and what the core values mean in guiding personal and professional conduct.
