Casino trip for Elburn seniorsRegistration is due today for the Elburn Seniors March 2 trip to Jumer's Casino in Rock Island. Cost is $35. Call (630) 879-7898 for reservations.Free supper in GenevaThe free Third Tuesday Supper at the United Methodist Church of Geneva, 211 Hamilton St., is from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16. The menu includes Gayle's Famous Meat Lasagna, vegetarian pasta with marinara sauce, Caesar salad and homemade fruit desserts. Hot dogs and chips are also available, as is carryout. Information and menus for several months can be found at thirdtuesdaysuppers.com or by calling the church office at (630) 232-7120.Dist. 303 faculty concertThe St. Charles School District 303 Orchestra Faculty will perform its fifth annual special concert for their orchestra students and the St. Charles Community at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Feb. 19 at the Arcada Theater, 105 E. Main St. Musical selections will primarily feature the music of Brahms, including two of his "Hungarian Dances" and the "Piano Trio in C minor, opus 101." Other selections will include a cello duet, and a string rendition of "Sweet Home Alabama" and the Beatles' "Blackbird." A drawing of musical prizes also will be held for students who attend the concert. The performance is free, but donations will be accepted to raise money for music camp scholarships. The performers include: Angie Wifler, violin (Norton Creek and Anderson schools); Andy Masters, violin (Bell-Graham and Wasco schools); Rita Borkowski, viola (Fox Ridge and Munhall schools); Sandy Pogge, cello and bass (Haines Middle School); Erin Hansen, cello (Lincoln and Davis schools); Ashley Hofer, cello (Wild Rose and Richmond schools); Jim Pesek, cello (Wredling Middle School); and Rachel Saldana, cello (Ferson Creek and Corron schools).Geneva literature laudedThe Geneva High School literary magazine, The Skaldic, received a rank of "Excellent" in the 2009 National Council of Teacher of English Program. The Skaldic was one of 29 publications to receive an award out of the 425 submitted magazines.
