Scouting's benefit to our youth is timeless
Pathfinder District of Northwest Suburban Council is the Boy Scout district that includes all or part of Elk Grove Village, Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates, Hanover Park and Streamwood.
This letter's purpose is twofold. First, to remind and make you aware that Boy Scouting is still around as the leader in providing a program of comprehensive youth development both locally, and worldwide. Secondly, to offer thanks in your continued recognition and support of the BSA mission.
The Boy Scouts of America will enter its 100th year as we celebrate our anniversary the second week of February 2010. Your awareness and support of the BSA will allow our devoted volunteers to continue in their effort to maintain the morals, values, and community based lessons that Scouting brings to our youth.
Scouting's emphasis is best measured in the Oath that our members repeat and follow regularly: "On my honor, I will do my best To do my duty to God and my country; To obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight."
Great words with timeless values. The 40 words of the Scout Oath have withstood the test of time from 1910 to the present day.
It is a statement that boys have always been able to recite, understand and live by. And, in turn it has produced generations of Americans whose love of country and sense of service to their fellow man is rivaled by no other organization in this nation.
Please continue to consider Boy Scouting in good favor when making decisions in supporting worthy organizations in the community. These are arduous times for everyone and only with your support will we be able to continue our second century of devotion to local youth who will "Be Prepared".
