Dist. 211 student garners perfect ACT score

The High School District 211 Board of Education honored Palatine High School student Ekamjeet Dhillon Jan. 21 for achieving a 36 on the ACT examination.

Ekamjeet was one of just seven students in Illinois, and one of only 91 students nationally, to receive a 36 on the ACT on the September 2009 test date.

The ACT, which is taken by nearly 60 percent of America's college-bound students as well as all junior students in Illinois as part of the Prairie State Achievement Examination, is comprised of tests in English, mathematics, reading, and science reasoning. Each test is scored on a scale of 1-36, and a student's score is the average of the four tests.

Of the thousands of students who take the ACT exam each year, only one in 3,300 students score a 36. Since April 1998, High School District 211 has had 33 students earn a 36 on the ACT exam (a complete list is available at d211.org/act perfect scorers.shtml).
