Schaumburg On Stage presenting 'Joseph'
Schaumburg On Stage, one of the Northwest suburbs premier theater groups, is going Joseph this year, as it presents "Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" at the Schaumburg Prairie Center for the Arts, beginning Friday, Jan. 22.
A cast of nearly 100 young performers will dance and sing (in fabulous costumes) the landmark Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice creation that tells the biblical tale of Joseph, who is sold into slavery by his brothers.
With his ability to interpret dreams, Joseph becomes a powerful leader who forgives his family and saves them and the land of Egypt from ruin.
Sharing the lead role of Joseph is Trace Hamilton, 17, of Carol Stream and Tom Rittondale, 16, of Elk Grove Village. Hamilton, a senior at Bartlett High School, is topping his long Schaumburg on Stage career with this signature role. Previous major roles with Schaumburg On Stage included Troy in "High School Musical 2," George in "The Wedding Singer" and LeFou in "Beauty and the Beast."
Hamilton has performed with several professional theater groups, including the Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago. A performer since the age of 5, Hamilton also plays in the local band, Chasing the Skyline. Hamilton and his band mates will be traveling to California in just a few weeks to compete in the final round of NAMM's National Battle-of-the-Bands.
Rittondale, a sophomore at Elk Grove Village High School is a seasoned stage veteran having appeared in six previous Schaumburg On Stage productions. He also appeared as Seymour in "Little Shop Of Horrors" at Elk Grove Village High School and in a professional production of "A Christmas Carol" at the Metropolis Performing Arts Centre in Arlington Heights.
The part of the Narrator is shared by three young performers from the Northwest suburbs: T'Lynn Candella, 18, of Roselle; Samantha Evans, 18; of Elk Grove Village and Amy Marik, 17, of Bartlett.
The role of the Pharoah is played by Michael Pirovano, 16, of Schaumburg.
