Cary-Grove senior appointed to Naval Academy:Daniel Jacquier of Cary has received an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., U.S. Rep. Don Manzullo announced recently. Daniel, a member of the National Honor Society and an "AP Scholar with Distinction" for his perfect scores on all five Advanced Placement exams, will graduate in June from Cary-Grove High School. As a Link Crew Leader, he led a group of 20 freshmen students in various lessons and team-building exercises throughout the year to help them better adjust to high school. He also volunteers his time at his church and with the McHenry County Conservation District.At Cary-Grove, Daniel competes on both the track and cross-country teams. He is the son of Kenneth and Regina Jacquier of Cary.Carpentersville seeks business savvy residents:The Village of Carpentersville is looking for candidates to serve on the village's newly adopted Business Development Commission. The seven-member commission will be appointed on the basis of experience and background. Not all members will be required to be village residents. However, at least four members must be electors and residents of the village for at least one year. One resident will be a consumer and registered to vote. The commission will function in an advisory capacity and will meet at least monthly. Those interested should submit a letter to Village President Ed Ritter, 1200 LW Besinger Drive, Carpentersville 60110 no later than Jan. 8.No trash collection New Year's Day:Algonquin's village offices will be closed New Year's Day, which means refuse and recycling collection originally scheduled for that day will be moved to Saturday.
