Knar's 32 points lift Mundelein
Robert Knar scored a season-high 32 points, as the Mundelein boys basketball team concluded the Jacobs tournament with an 81-78 win over Marian Central.
The freshman sank six 3-pointers. Ben Brust and Ryan Sawvell added 17 and 12 points, respectively, for Mundelein (9-5, 4-1 tournament).
Carmel 74, Maine West 59: At Wheeling, Dan Mooney led four players in double figures, as the Corsairs concluded the Hardwood Classic with their second win in a row.
Mooney had 15 points, including three 3-pointers, and 6 rebounds. Pat Cox added 14 points and 6 boards for Carmel (7-8, 2-2). Jonathan Huisel contributed 14 points in the victory, while Connor Sexson had 10 points (three 3s), 4 steals and 4 assists. Doug Meyer drained a pair of 3-pointers and also had 3 assists and 3 steals.
Carmel jumped out to a 21-10 lead after one quarter and extended its advantage to 43-26 by halftime. The Corsairs then outscored Maine West 28-8 in the third.
Naperville Central 57, Stevenson: At Wheeling, the Patriots dropped their third straight in the Hardwood Classic to finish 1-3 in the tournament.
Stevenson (8-5) was coming off back-to-back defeats in overtime.
Nate Johnson led the Patriots with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Kevin Earl had 10 points, and Jeff Levitt added 5 points, 7 assists and 5 steals.
