Woodstock man arrested after Fox Lake accident
A Woodstock man was charged with multiple offenses after getting into an accident in Fox Lake then trying to flee the scene while carrying drug paraphernalia, police officials said.
David H. Grigsby, 30, of the 200 block of Sparrow Drive in Woodstock, has been released from Lake County jail after posting 10 percent of the required $10,000 bond following the accident on Route 173 on Dec. 9, Lt. Joe Gliniewicz said.
Grigsby was heading west on Route 173 about 500 feet east of Wilmot Road at about 10 p.m. when he hit a black Dodge Jeep heading east, Gliniewicz said.
While officers were responding, witnesses at the scene said Grigsby tried to drive away with two front flat tires, Gliniewicz said. Then, he started to flee on foot, but stopped and returned to the scene, Gliniewicz said.
Upon investigation, it was determined Grigsby was driving while impaired, Gliniewicz said, and, while searching Grigsby, a small bag of white powder was discovered.
Grigsby was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, Gliniewicz said.
Grigsby is due back in court on Dec. 21.
The driver of the Jeep was not injured in the accident and refused medical treatment at the scene, Gliniewicz said.
