Is Dist. 211 operating in a financial vacuum?

I just looked at the second installment of my 2008 Tax Bill. What is going on over there? Are they aware that the unemployment rate in Illinois is about 15-20% when people who are unemployed and no longer receiving unemployment benefits are included?

Have the people in the D211 Administration building had all of their raises stopped and been put on 2-4 days per month furloughs as has been done in other states? How many jobs have been eliminated in maintenance because pro style artificial turf has been installed on football fields?

Perhaps D211 should consider merging their administration function with another district. Then most likely about 30 percent of the staff from each district could be eliminated.

Recently Illinois was listed as one of the states with the most serious financial problems in the country. In neighboring states- in much better financial shape than Illinois- drastic cuts in school spending are already in process. Teachers are being laid off, sports are being eliminated, and serious cost reductions everywhere else are being demanded.

Perhaps special consideration should be given to eliminate Driver Education which should have never gotten into the schools. If students did more walking they would be healthier and fewer would look like they eat all of their meals at some meat market.

The Internet should have resulted in the need for fewer librarians. How many of these jobs have been eliminated?
