• Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Robert M. Shall graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

He is the son of Jane Kamradt of Morris, Ill., and brother of Amanda Shall of Hanover Park.

• Jonathon A. Tate has graduated from the Army ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) Leader's Training Course at Fort Knox, Ky.

The four-week course is a leadership internship for cadets that can lead to the ultimate goal of becoming an Army officer. College students experience and examine the Army without incurring an obligation to serve in the Army or ROTC, and are eligible to receive two-year college scholarship offers and attend the Advanced ROTC Course at their college.

The cadet is a student at Northeastern Illinois University, Chicago. He is the grandson of Yolanda Baturin of Laredo, Texas, and nephew of Eddie Baturin of Streamwood.

• Air Force Airman Marissa P. Townsend graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

She is the daughter of Margaret Haas of Hanover Park and Corey Townsend of Elgin.

Townsend is a 2009 graduate of Schaumburg High School.

• Marine Corps Cpl. Kenny T. Nguyen, a 2005

graduate of Bartlett High School, was promoted to

his current rank while serving with Marine Air Control Squadron Four, Marine Air Control Group 18, Okinawa, Japan.

Nguyen was promoted based on sustained superior job performance and proficiency in his designated specialty. He joined the Marine Corps in July 2008.
