Eight is enough as Lisle trustee resigns
A Lisle trustee with a passion for lively downtowns is ending an eight-year run.
Trustee Kim Brondyke, appointed to the village board in May 2001, has announced her resignation to take a legislative aide position in the office of Naperville Republican state Rep. Michael Connelly's office.
Brondyke's career in public service began with her election to the Lisle park board in 1995. Three of her six years were served either as president or vice president.
In her eight and a half years on the village board, Brondyke supported several municipal facilities and infrastructure improvements, including the new Lisle Village Hall, the Downtown Lisle Streetscape project and the Garfield-area stormwater basin.
Mayor Joe Broda said Brondyke's resignation will leave a void.
"It has been a privilege to serve with Kim on the village board," he said. "Her commitment to intergovernmental and community cooperation will be missed."
Broda said he will begin attempting to fill the vacancy immediately with interested propsects.
Brondyke was unavailable for comment Monday.
