Jacobs falls in season opener

The Jacobs boys basketball team opened its season Thursday night with a tough 67-66 loss to Bartonville Limestone in the opening round of the Quincy Thanksgiving Tournament.

Matt Schmidt led the Golden Eagles with 18 points, while Sean Meyer added 15. Nick Hofman contributed 13 points for Jacobs, which led 32-29 at halftime.

The Golden Eagles face host Quincy tonight in the second round.
