Wednesday's Cook County roundup
Prospect's boys basketball team didn't have a bad start to its season Wednesday at the St. Patrick Thanksgiving Tournament in Chicago.
But the Knights had a big finish with a 46-point second half en route to a 76-48 victory over Senn. Senior guard Joe LaTulip scored a career-high 28 points and hit three 3s for the defending Mid-Suburban League champions, who led 30-24 at halftime.
LaTulip's sophomore brother Mike also had a solid varsity debut with 15 points and two 3s. Nsenzi Salasini also scored 15 points and 6-foot-7 senior Jake Suckow had 10 rebounds.
Buffalo Grove 62, Holy Trinity 45: Junior Nick Prus scored a career-high 28 points to lead BG (2-0) in the second game of its Thanksgiving tournament. Prus hit four 3-pointers and scored half of his points in the third quarter.
Kevin Mulligan added 15 points and Dan Recht and Mike Cornely chipped in 7 apiece for the Bison.
Conant 69, Luther North 31: Garrett Gatz was on a roll for the second straight night as he scored 21 points and hit five 3s for Conant (2-0) in the St. Viator Thanksgiving tournament.
Andrew Spangler and Taylor Peterson scored 11 points apeice and Christian Sotos added 10 points for Conant.
Maine South 66, Wheeling 35: Sophomore Charlie Kirk (11 points) and Ryan McClellan (9 points) each hit three 3s for Wheeling (1-1) in the loss in Maine West's Warrior Classic. Justin Wasik and Pat Maher scored 15 points apiece for Maine South (2-0).
York 62, Hersey 36: The Huskies (2-1) suffered their first loss at the York Thanksgiving Tournament.
