District 211 scores six writing awards
To encourage high school students in their writing and to publicly recognize some of the nation's best student writers, the National Council of Teachers of English established the "Achievement Award in Writing." It is the most prestigious national writers' recognition for high school juniors.
District 211 had six students selected for this award in 2009-2010: Lauren Becker from Schaumburg High School, Maureen Brodeur from Palatine High School, Kathryn Hasz from Schaumburg High School, Shiny Kaur from Palatine High School, and Eunhye Oak and Christine Spasoff from William Fremd High School.
