Surprise gift on Veterans Day:

Itasca firefighters and police officers Wednesday provided a surprising twist to the village's Veterans Day ceremony at Usher Park. The Itasca Professional Firefighters Association and the Itasca Fraternal Order of Police presented members of North DuPage VFW Post 5167 with 22 new jackets. Firefighter and IPFA Vice President Tim Kingsmill came up with the idea of buying the new jackets for the veterans after attending last year's Veterans Day ceremony. The firefighters and police officers said the gift signifies how "eternally grateful" they are to everyone who has served in the nation's military.
