Viator takes third at Fenton

St. Viator finished third in the Fenton Class 2A regional Saturday and advanced as a team to the Belvidere sectional.

Eric Loy (17:11) and Nick Fiore (17:12) led the Lions on the 3-mile course. Tim Brinkmann (17:37), Peter Cleary (17:39) and Rich Hutyra (17:48) were their other counting runners.

St. Francis (40 points) and Glenbard South (53) finished ahead of Viator (63).

At Lake Park: Leyden didn't advance as a team but claimed all five individual qualifying spots for next week's Niles West 3A sectional.

Herald Alvarez took 15th overall (16:11) for the Eagles. Hector Patino (29th, 17:01), Arthur Williams (30th, 17:03), Fernando Ramirez (33rd, 17:35) and Roberto Gonzalez (37th, 17:52) also advanced.
