Outlook Schaumburg not only is looking to enhance its position for its third trip to the playoffs in four years but could also end up with a share of the West title if Palatine beats Fremd. "We really haven't talked about that," said Schaumburg coach Mark Stilling. "The way our defense played in the second half (last week) was definitely encouraging because your goal is to be playing your best football in late October and November." Sophomore LB Josh Marchok typifies that with a big game last week and will need to do it again with Patrick Derbak and crew against one of the MSL's top rushers in Conant's Kyle Klosowicz (1,394 yards, 14 TDs). "Our sophomores and juniors have really matured in terms of their competitiveness," Stilling said. Conant would like to finish a tough year of some close calls against a rugged schedule on a high note and will have to contain the trio of RB Warren Brewer (704 yards, 14 TDs), WR Dionte Hackler (37 rec., 507 yards, 5 TDs) and QB Mark Iannotti (1,123 yards passing, 6 TDs; 467 rushing, 6 TDs). "I feel good about this week but who knows what team is going to come out and play," said Conant coach Bill Modelski. "In some ways this should be fun for us because we have nothing to lose and there's a lot at stake for them." Conant leads the series 23-15.
